Beyond Suno, Udio, Donna and ElevenMusic: Stable Audio, AIVA and Mureka in different workflows
Not every AI music tool is trying to be the same product. Stable Audio emphasizes generative audio models and open/self-hosted possibilities, AIVA has a composition-and-licensing model, and Mureka combines full-song generation with editing and paid-output ownership terms.
Choose by workflow. A tool built for full songs, an open audio model and a composition/licensing platform solve different problems even when all three are called “AI music.”
Stable Audio 3.0: model-centric and open-weight options
Stability AI says Stable Audio 3.0 is trained on fully licensed data and includes open-weight Small/Medium models, with Large available through API/self-hosting. Its May 2026 announcement describes variable-length generation up to six minutes. Commercial use depends on the Stability license: the Community License covers creators and businesses below its stated revenue threshold, while larger organizations need enterprise terms.
AIVA: plan-based composition licensing
AIVA’s legal pages describe different licenses depending on the plan: non-commercial, limited commercial and full copyright. Its public pricing positions the free plan as non-commercial and the Standard plan as limited monetization on selected social platforms. This is a different model from “everything I generate is automatically mine on every plan.”
Mureka: full-song workflow with a paid/free rights split
Mureka’s current terms say users who buy credits or subscribe to a paid tier own the generated output, while free-tier outputs remain owned by Mureka and are licensed for lawful internal, non-commercial use with attribution. Its product materials describe full-song generation plus editing, Extend, stems, MIDI and voice workflows.
What to compare before you switch tools
Do not compare only audio demos. Check export path, editing depth, reference-upload rules, current rights terms, language support, stem/MIDI needs, API access and whether the tool is designed for songs, production assets or composition.
Stable Audio, AIVA and Mureka are relevant for different reasons. Compare workflow and licensing structure before comparing “quality” in the abstract.
