How to distribute AI music to Spotify, Apple Music and more
Spotify does not let you create an artist profile and upload music directly. Your music is delivered through a label or distributor. The distributor is the bridge between your master file and the stores.
Choose a distributor whose current AI policy fits your music, prepare clean metadata and artwork, schedule the release early enough to claim artist tools, then verify every store profile after delivery.
Step 1: choose the distributor by policy, not only price
AI policies now differ materially. DistroKid accepts AI-created music under stated rights and anti-impersonation rules. Amuse allows AI-generated music but says some services can be excluded. LANDR currently caps AI-generated submissions and excludes some destinations. TuneCore applies a licensed-training-data framework. CD Baby currently rejects AI-generated content.
Step 2: prepare the release like a real catalog asset
- Final master audio
- Artist name written consistently
- Track title and version information
- Artwork you are allowed to use
- Songwriter/composer and collaborator data where applicable
- Release date with enough lead time
- Correct explicit-content and language metadata
Step 3: distribution creates availability; claiming creates control
Spotify says artist profiles are created automatically when music is first delivered and cannot be manually created from scratch. After delivery, claim Spotify for Artists. Do the equivalent on Apple Music for Artists and Amazon Music for Artists instead of assuming the distributor manages those artist dashboards for you.
Step 4: verify the release everywhere
Check that the track landed on the correct artist profile, artwork and credits are correct, the audio is the final master and social-platform destinations are present where eligible. Fix mismatches immediately through the distributor or the artist platform.
Distribution is delivery. Artist management starts after delivery. Treat both as separate steps.
